About the artist

Henry Blache, known as Sax, is a French street artist from Provence now based in Paris. Born in 1995, he grew up surrounded by nature, which has a profound influence on his work. His bold, splashing animal portraits in vibrant colors quickly gained attention, not just for their visual impact, but for raising awareness about endangered species.

Sax’s expressive style blends elements of Xieyi, a Chinese painting technique focused on emotion, with graffiti to create layered artworks rich in meaning. The graffiti often forms calligrams, reinforcing the idea that these animals—like abandoned buildings—are being forgotten.

He works with a variety of media, including watercolor, ink, acrylic, and aerosol, to intensify the emotional power of his pieces. His live painting performances, held at events in France and abroad, showcase his raw energy and precision.

A multidisciplinary talent, Sax also creates music and short films. His film Allô earned him the nickname “le maître du twist” from Konbini, and his video Freestyle won the Jury’s Grand Prize at the BeGreen Film Festival during COP21 in 2016. Sax’s work is a vibrant call to protect nature, expressed through color, movement, and powerful symbolism.
